Spotlight Report - The Impact of COVID-19

Every year, the Ontario Caregiver Organization publishes its Spotlight Report which takes a look at the caregiving experience in Ontario. This year, the OCO looked at how the experience has changed in year two of the pandemic, compared to year one. Read the full report here.

While not surprising, I think you will find the results alarming. As an example, this year, three in five caregivers say they feel burnt out.

The predominant themes in the report include:

  1. The caregiving role is harder
  2. Caregiver burnout is higher than ever before
  3. The financial impact is greater because of Covid-19
  4. Working caregivers struggle to balance responsibilities
  5. Caregivers are worried about the future of our health care system

There is no doubt that caregiver stress levels are increasing. The good news is there are things we can all do to help. Please read the report and look at the last few pages where we offer practical ideas that can make a difference in a caregiver's life.
