Share your story

We are looking for caregivers to share personal caregiving stories in writing to help other caregivers, like you, feel less alone. These will be shared anonymously in our weekly 90Second Caregiver Newsletter, designed to provide caregivers with support in less than two minutes.

Each dispatch includes:

  • An introduction to a relevant topic for caregivers and their well-being
  • Actionable tips on the topic
  • A personal story (that's where you come in)
  • Programs and services that can help caregivers
  • A place for caregivers to provide feedback on the newsletter

What will be expected of me?

You'll be invited to write your own personal caregiving story in an email to our team.

Each caregiving story should communicate:

  1. How long you have been a caregiver
  2. What health condition the person you're supporting is experiencing
  3. The challenges you face, and how you met those challenges based on the topic chosen below
  4. One key takeaway for others to learn from

Select at least one of the following topics to write about: (example: circle of support - chosen family and caregiving)

  1. Eating well for caregiving
  2. Exercising and caregiving
  3. How to deal with unexpected caregiver anger and aggression from your care recipient
  4. Learning how to take time out as a caregiver
  5. Balancing work and care as a caregiver
  6. Caregiving and navigating crisis
  7. Taking care of young adults as a caregiver
  8. Caring for a developmentally delayed child as a caregiver
  9. Financial well-being and caregiving
  10. Letting go of caregiving
  11. Your hearing loss and its impact on caregiving
  12. Understanding Alzheimer’s and dementia as a caregiver
  13. Faith and spirituality in caregiving
  14. Understanding how your culture affects your caregiving
  15. Rural and remote caregiving
  16. Long distance caregiving
  17. Creating a daily routine as a caregiver
  18. Loss and grief in caregiving
  19. Burnout prevention for caregivers
  20. How cultural obligations can impact caregiving
  21. How do you manage as a caregivers when your care recipient refuses outside supports
  22. Power of attorney –information caregivers should know
  23. Mind and body connection in caregiving
  24. Caregiving and loneliness
  25. How to better support when your care recipient is finding Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) difficult

Is there another topic you'd like to focus on that could help other caregivers? If so, let us know that topic in your email.

Once you send your story, you'll connect with someone from our team virtually or over the phone for edits, with final approvals by you before we move forward.

If we share your personal caregiving story in our newsletter, you will be eligible for a $100 honorarium for your time and energy.

How can I participate?

If you are interested in sharing your story, or have any questions about how to share your story or about what a specific topic might involve, please email marnik@ontariocaregiver.ca by November 3rd, 2025, with your interest and including the following:

  • your name
  • the first three letters of your postal code
  • email and phone number so we can contact you
  • the topic (number and title from the list) or another topic of personal interest
